Tilling Season is a farmhouse style beer named after the agricultural preparation of soil by mechanical agitation. We brewed this beer with Bohemian floor malted pilsner, raw wheat, malted rye, flaked oats, and a small amount of Beechwood smoked malt. Beechwood smoked malt was used to increase the earthy and phenolic notes in this beer, while our house mixed culture keeps things funky and tart. A combination of fresh Czech Saaz and aged Liberty hops were added in the boil before fermenting and aging in 25 year old Scotch Whisky barrels.
